MWSRA GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

July 9, 1997

Meeting brought to order 7:31 PM

ANNOUNCEMENTS

• Rule changes discussed with handouts provided for
  each member.

• Special offer for Referee Magazine.

• Mentor program - Tadd Dawson asked for volunteers
  and went over criteria

• Training - 2 man clinic to held in late August or
  early September.

• Awards - 15 year & 20 year awards for Pat Werner
         - 15 year award for Bob Sands
  

SECRETARY'S REPORT

• Minutes waived

TREASURER' S REPORT

• Approximately $18,000.00 in bank

• Prepaid fees total $1,800.00

• Navarro fund $1,900.00

• Total liabilities $3,700.00

• Contracts in dispute $2,028.00

• Net balance $19,678.00

PRESIDENT'S REPORT

• New Contracts are out with slight increases.

• Fee schedule will be announced once negotiations are
  finished and contracts are returned signed.

• CASRA - discussions will continue.

• Assignors - Gerry Grimes will assign for High Schools and the Bob Marley tournament on August 2,3 & 4. HS scrimmages will begin in mid August.

Committees

• Tadd will head training and new referee classes.  The next new referee class will
  begin September 2 at Eastern M.S. 

• Tadd has also proposed the following rating system:

• Jim Gordon moved that we accept, Roy Eggert seconded.  Membership votes to approve.

• Current rating was on last paycheck.

• Field directories and membership roster will be distributed at rules clinic.
  

• Montgomery, PG & Howard County coaches will be rating referees this fall.
  

OLD BUSINESS

• Vote for life membership for Jim McGoldrick. 2nd vote to approve passed.

• Don Dennison moves to table discussion of CASRA.

  • Seconded and approved by 2/3 of membership.

• Mark Mason gave public thanks to Avner Koldaro for his work on the banquet.

• Avner Koldaro made note that our association has had 4 of our members as National Referees.
  Currently we have none.  A plea to use the mentor program to help our younger referees.

• Kap announced an international tournament to be held down town from Sept. 23-27.  He will need
  referees.

• Joe Marrone inquired about NCSL & WAGS contracts.

  • No discussions are being held regarding this.

• Tadd Dawson awarded the Nelson Kobren award.

• Scott Cecilio awarded the Larry Morgan award rookie of the year).
