Thanksgiving Soccer Game (11/27/03)
MWSRA’s Boys in Black led by Jose Angel Hernandez won easily over Paul Dowling’s Green Team by a score of 6-3 in the annual Thanksgiv-ing Game match played Thursday morning at White Oak MS. With only one sub, the Greens couldn’t keep up with the 20 players in black who outran, outplayed and out-talked their valiant opponents. As vic-tors, the Boys in Black retains possession of the Mike McAteer Memo-rial Challenge Cup which was first presented September 24 1967. After the game, Jose expressed his thanks to Paul Dowling and his team for a hard-fought match, to his teammates and especially to the volunteer refs who took on the tough job of controlling a team of their peers.
